UAE chalking out action plan to achieve sustainable goals

Mariam Al Hammadi, assistant director-general, Government Performance at the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and the Future, pointed out the mechanisms and government tools being used to ensure the UAE’s National Agenda is achieved will automatically achieve some of the SDGs.
“We have four more years to achieve the UAE Vision 2021, and we have already achieved 71 per cent of the National Agenda targets,” she said.
Al Hammadi referred to the National Agenda’s six main goals, pointing out the UAE has made significant progress in achieving numerous targets and indicators, which are reflected in global competitive reports.
“One of the areas that has seen progress is the health sector. We are working on ensuring our health-care system meets international standards. We are also working on reducing heart issues in the UAE, as well as obesity among children, the number of people with diabetes, and the number of smokers in the country,” explained Al Hammadi.
