The UAE hosts the fourth meeting of the Technical Cooperation Group to discuss the indicators of the Fourth Development Goal for Sustainable Education.
The Fourth Meeting of the Technical Cooperation Group, on the sustainable development goal hosted by the UAE and organized by the Regional Center for Educational Planning in collaboration with the UNESCO Institute for Statistics was launched yesterday with the participation of 80 prestigious personalities representing national, regional and international institutions from all over the world, at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Dubai.
The objective of the meeting is to review the indicators of the fourth goal of 2030 education goals, and education indicators related to the other sustainable development goals, in terms of providing data for their calculation, calculation mechanisms and appropriate tracking strategies, and to review the achieved ones at the global, regional and national levels for the fourth objective of Education 2030.
H.E Hussain Al Hammadi, Minister of Education, said in his opening speech that hosting the fourth meeting of the technical group by the UAE, represented by the Regional Center for Educational Planning is a clear indicator of the confidence of the international community in the field of education in the UAE's efforts in education, and the important and pivotal role of the Regional Center for Educational Planning, as part of its strategic partnership with UNESCO in the field of education 2030, in promoting the international efforts to achieve UNESCO's goals in the field of education.
He pointed out that the ambition of the UAE has no limit, and the national endeavors are serious and continuous to be an incubator for the outstanding scientific potentials in achieving sustainable development globally in the fields of science, technology, innovation, leadership and wise governance, and to devote thinking, research and survey within the educational system to ensure the high quality that respects equality of opportunities, At different levels of education and its stages and paths.
He added that in line with the National Team for Sustainable Development, the National Team for Education 2030 will build a common understanding of the indicators and objectives of the fourth goal and ensure that it’ aligned with the Ministry of Education Plan and Vision 2021, including the components of early childhood, education, vocational and technical training and higher education, and support the professional development of teachers through the Institute of Teacher Training of the Ministry.
He pointed out that the team is also working on reviewing the elements, components and curricula of the UAE school to ensure that it achieves the concepts of global citizenship and moral education within our UAE identity, as well as ensuring that the skills of thinking, creativity and innovation in educational activities are practiced. He explained that the data center established in the Ministry of Education supports the national team in submitting evidences to provide us with indicators and educational statistics extracted using modern techniques and methodologies related to our educational system.
For his part, H.E Dr. Ali Al-Qarni, General Director of the Arab Education Bureau for the Gulf countries, stressed that education is the true starting point for achieving all the desired goals, as if it is good, comprehensive and equitable, it will not only improve the living standards of the learners and the economic level of their countries, but contributes directly to the eradication of poverty, raising the level of health of the citizen, and preparing him as a good citizen who contributes effectively to the protection of the environment and planet.
For her part, Mahra Al Mutaiwee, Director of the Regional Center for Educational Planning in Sharjah, said that the meeting comes about two years after that the General Framework adopt Education 2030 as an important step in reviewing what has been achieved in this framework at the global, regional and national levels, taking advantage in using it for the development of plans and general frameworks for what will be accomplished during the next phase.
For her part, Mariam Al Hammadi, Assistant of the General Director for Government Performance and Excellence at the Office of the Prime Minister, reviewed the UAE National Agenda 2021, its main themes and national priorities, and discussed the mechanisms followed by the Cabinet Office to follow up the results of the agenda
